BBG | Application to Serve in CP Students

Basic Information

Thank you for taking a moment to fill out our application form. We want you to know that we see the application process as a relationship, not just a form to be filled out. We look forward to getting to know you through this form, both the fun side and the serious side. Be transparent, and if there are ways we can love and serve you, we look forward to doing so. As you fill out this form, please do not get any impression that you need to be perfect to serve. None of us are perfect, but prayerfully and humbly, we are all making progress.

Legalities

In caring for students, we believe it is our responsibility to seek adult leaders that can provide healthy, safe and nurturing relationships. Please answer the following questions accordingly. (Answering yes to any of these questions does not automatically disqualify you from volunteering in our ministry, but we would like to discuss these further with you.):

Healthy Sexuality

We affirm that God has designed marriage to be a covenantal, sexual, procreative, lifelong union of one man and one woman, as husband and wife, and is meant to signify the covenant love between Christ and his bride the church. We also affirm that God’s revealed will for all people is sexual integrity outside of marriage and fidelity within marriage. With the above in mind, we again want to love you and love our kids by ensuring that we relationally connect with you about any questions or misalignment you feel with the above. We want to make sure that we don’t put anyone in a position of leadership where they feel pressure to teach, represent, or appear to affirm a view that they don’t personally embrace.

This includes books, magazines, television shows, movies, and/or internet programs.

Emotionally Healthy Leadership

Two important values we want to communicate as you fill out the information below. First, Connection Pointe cares about you personally, spiritually, and emotionally. If there is any part of your life that needs healing and wholeness, we would love to come alongside you as the Body of Christ. By caring for you, we know that we are, by extension, also caring for our students. That leads to our second value. We love our students, and we believe it is our responsibility to seek leaders who are spiritually, emotionally, and personally ready to provide healthy, safe, and nurturing relationships. The below questions help us to love you and to love our students. (Answering yes to any of these questions does not automatically disqualify you from volunteering in our ministry, but we would like to discuss these further with you.):

Doctrinal Beliefs

An important part of serving in student ministry is that you understand and commit to our doctrinal beliefs here at Connection Pointe. Please review the following:

We are an independent, nondenominational church. We believe the Bible to be divinely inspired and reliable (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

All people have sinned and need forgiveness. Jesus Christ was virgin-born, sinless, died on the cross for our sins, was raised from the dead on the third day and is coming again (Matthew 1:18; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 14:3).

Salvation is a free gift, bestowed by God's grace and received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Immersion in water of a professed believer is Bible baptism (Acts 8:36-39) and such baptism is symbolic of Christ's death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:1-4). A believer's salvation is secured by Christ alone (John 10:27-28).

The church is the bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:25-33) and the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12).

The local church is governed by Godly elders (Titus 1:5).

The purpose of the church on earth is to fulfill the last command of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20).

Christians are endowed with spiritual gifts which enable them to serve in the church (Ephesians 4:12).

The Holy Spirit, which every believer receives at conversion (Ephesians 1:13-14), leads and guides us.

Christian morality is determined by the Bible and does not change with culture (2 Timothy 3:16).

Volunteer commitment

Connection Pointe operates under biblical authority and recognizes the Bible as the ultimate source for truth and wisdom. We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God and gives us God's requirements for leaders and those of influence in the church.  Because of this, we ask that our volunteers make this covenant.  We are held accountable for every leader we approve to influence families at Connection Pointe  Christian Church.

As a volunteer I will be a role model for others and will display self-discipline, responsibility and regularly participate in services with my own age group.  I understand that I will be held accountable for my behavior and level of participation when serving.  I realize that my actions and behavior outside of church also reflect on my role as a volunteer.

I will not use social media to post or share comments, pictures or links that do not represent Jesus Christ and Connection Pointe Christian Church well. I will not use social media to stir up controversy within the church or community, or to promote views that would cause disunity in our body or is in opposition to Connection Pointe’s core beliefs.

I understand the philosophy of this ministry and agree with its purpose and commit to shepherding the students that God brings me. I commit to rejecting divisive behavior. I commit to bringing my disagreements, concerns, or problems about the ministry to a Connection Pointe Student Ministry staff member without talking or gossiping to students, other volunteers, or church members.
